Markus Böhm

Markus A. Böhm is Director Sales of Excelsis Business Technology AG. Within his customer portfolio he serves key accounts such as Deutsche Telekom, Deutsche Post AG or Siemens. Prior to joining Excelsis, Mr. Böhm served as Sales Director for Damovo Deutschland GmbH and took care for international operating companies such as Airbus Industries or the Freudenberg Group. Between 2000 and 2003 Mr. Böhm was one of the first employees of Digital World Services LLC (DWS), a Bertelsmann Company, providing software for secure distribution of digital content. With offices in Hamburg and New York, Mr. Böhm was responsible for the entire european organisation of DWS and held the board member position of Executive Director Business Development. Mr. Böhm’s extensive sales experience stems from his work as Manager Sales National Accounts for Aspect Communications. Under his leadership Deutsche Telekom became the largest customer of Aspect world wide with a communication center infrastructure consisting of more than 20,000 agent seats at 134+ locations.
Mr. Böhm started his career as a management consultant working for Pugh – Roberts Associates (part of PA Consulting), Cambridge, USA in early 1991. In this position he developed a computer simulation model for large construction projects and was an active member of the team planning the Euro Tunnel.
Markus A. Böhm holds a degree in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Osnabrück with emphasis in controlling, operations and computer science.

Prof Dr-Ing Karlheinz Brandenburg

Dr Karlheinz Brandenburg has been a driving force behind some of today’s most innovative digital audio technology, notably the MP3 and MPEG audio standards. He is acclaimed for seminal work in digital audio coding and perceptual measurement techniques, Wave Field Synthesis (WFS) and psycho-acoustics. As an IEEE Fellow, Prof. Brandenburg serves on the IEEE Signal Processing Society’s Technical Committee on Audio and Electro-acoustics and is a Fellow of the Audio Engineering Society (AES). His honors include the AES Silver Medal, the “IEEE Masaru Ibuka Consumer Electronic Award”, the German Future Award, which he shared with his colleagues and the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Furthermore he is member in the “Hall of Fame” of the Consumer Electronics Association and of the International Electrotechnical Commission. The author of numerous articles and co-editor of “Applications of Digital Signal Processing to Audio and Acoustics”, Dr Brandenburg holds about 100 patents. He is professor at the Institute for Media Technology at Ilmenau Technical University and director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT in Ilmenau, Germany.

Oliver Gürtler

Oliver Gürtler ist seit 2005 bei der Microsoft Deutschland GmbH tätig und bekleidet seit Dezember 2006 die Position des ISV Partner Group Manager. Das Team um Oliver Gürtler betreut in Deutschland die ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) von der Entwicklung der Software bis hin zur Vermarktung des fertigen Produkts mit der Zielsetzung, den Softwarehersteller durch die Zusammenarbeit mit Microsoft noch erfolgreicher zu machen. Vor seiner Tätigkeit bei Microsoft war er in leitender Funktion bei mehreren Softwareherstellern aktiv. Oliver Gürtler ist studierter Diplom Kaufmann, verheiratet und Familienvater.

Klaus J. Kurz

Geboren 1966. Studium der Elektrotechnik und Mathematik an der technischen Universität München. Abschluss als Diplom Ingenieur und Staatsexamen. Seit über 15 Jahren in verschieden Soft- und Hardwarefirmen als Entwickler, Produktmanager und Produktmarketingmanager tätig, darunter Siemens, Micrografx, Corel und Pinnacle Systems. Seit Anfang 2004 als Business Development Manager für das Segment Media und Publishing bei Adobe Systems verantwortlich.

Dr Mario Lenz

Dr Mario Lenz hat an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin Informatik mit Nebenfach Psychologie studiert und sich während dieser Zeit vor allem mit Aspekten des Wissensmanagement und Case-Based Reasoning befasst. Bereits während dieser Zeit gab es zahlreiche Kooperationen mit der tec:inno GmbH in Kaiserslautern, bei der er dann 1999 als Entwicklungsleiter tätig wurde. Nach Integration der tec:inno in die empolis GmbH übernahm Dr Mario Lenz zunächst die Rolle des Head of Development und leitete in dieser Funktion die Entwicklungsbereiche der empolis GmbH an den Standorten Kaiserslautern und Würzburg. Neben den originären Aufgaben im Bereich Produktentwicklung verantwortete er auch übergeordnete Themen, wie etwa die Zertifizierung der Entwicklungsabteilungen gemäß ISO 9001:2000. Im Jahre 2006 wurde Dr Mario Lenz zum CTO und Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung der empolis GmbH berufen.

Sven Obertopp

Sven Obertopp is a consultant & trainer. In his career he spent several years at the Export-Akademie Baden-Württemberg, Reutlingen as freelance consultant and project assistant, designing economic simulation models, creating field studies in the area of international marketing and international management, operations of the intranet and conduction training of MS Office, MS Windows and Internet. As assistant in the department “International Courses Business Development” at FESTO Didactic KG, Denkendorf he designed company specific simulation models, conception and design of new strategic projects and a new franchising system. Since 1997 he is working as freelance consultant and trainer. Currently at Versatel, Germany, he is the overall project director / program management for integrated knowledge management in customer service and 2nd line support with a budget of > 2 million €. IT environment: empolis, MS Windows 2003, Sun Solaris, Oracle, MS Project, ARS Remedy. Diplom-Betriebswirt (FH), Studiengang Betriebsorganisation and Wirtschaftsinformatik.

Carsten Priebisch hat an der Universität Kaiserslautern Informatik studiert und die Schwerpunkte KI und Datenbanken vertieft. Seit 1995 führte er als Consulting Manager der Firma Inference erfolgreich Projekte in Callcentern der Deutschen Bank, Siemens, Arcor und UBS durch. Schon damals lag der Fokus auf der praktischen Umsetzung von Knowledge Management Konzepten mit Hilfe von modernen IT-Produkten. Als Director Professional Services der tec:inno Gmbh, die im Jahr 2000 mit zwei weiteren Unternehmen zur empolis GmbH verschmolz, verantwortete er zahlreiche Großprojekte bei international tätigen Unternehmen in den Bereichen Knowledge Management und eCommerce. Seit Herbst 2007 leitet Carsten Priebisch den Bereich Presales der empolis.

Tibor Tscheke

Tibor Tscheke is Managing Partner in Ovitas LLC and serves as Managing Director of Ovitas Inc. (Boston, USA) as well as Partner and Board Member of the Ovitas Network. Before he took these positions he served from 1999 to 2006 on the Executive Board of empolis GmbH as Executive Vice President International, managing all empolis activities outside of Germany. Tibor founded 1992 STEP GmbH, which under his leadership became European Market Leader in SGML technologies, solutions and services in the 90s. An important and still substantial contribution of STEP to the SGML/XML content management market – SigmaLink – became the major building block of today’s e:CLS – empolis’ component content management system. STEP was acquired by Arvato in 1999 as one of the IT companies merged into empolis. Tibor led STEP through a seamless and successful merger process. Before founding STEP, Tibor worked as Consultant and Software Designer in the media industry, focusing on TeX and SGML for professional publishing. Tibor studied Mathematics in Heidelberg and Computer Science in Karlsruhe, Germany.

Prof Dr Hans Uszkoreit

Hans Uszkoreit ist Professor für Computerlinguistik und kooptierter Professor für Informatik an der Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken. Er ist zugleich Wissenschaftlicher Direktor am Deutschen Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI), wo er auch den Forschungsbereich Sprachtechnologie (LT Lab) leitet.
Uszkoreit studierte Linguistik, Informatik und Philosophie an der TU Berlin und an der Universität von Texas in Austin, wo er 1984 promoviert wurde. Danach war er als Computerwissenschaftler und später als Projektleiter am Stanford Research Institute (SRI) und am Center for the Study of Language and Information der Stanford Universität und bei der IBM Deutschland tätig.
Er ist Mitglied der European Academy of Sciences, Mitglied auf Lebenszeit des International Committee of Computational Linguists, des Executive Board der European Network of Language and Speech und mehrerer Beratungs- und Herausgebergremien. Er ist Mitgründer und Beiratsmitglied mehrerer High-Tech Spin-Off Unternehmen. Seine heutigen Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Anwendungen der Sprach- und Wissenstechnologien, insbesondere für das Informations- und Wissensmanagement.

Sebastian Weber

Sebastian Weber ist Platform Strategy Manager bei Microsoft Deutschland. In dieser Rolle unterstützt er Softwarehersteller bei der Ausrichtung ihrer Produkte auf neueste Microsoft-Technologien. Sein persönlicher Schwerpunkt liegt in der .NET-Entwicklungsplattform und Office Geschäftsanwendungen.

Dr Johannes Wenzel

IT-Systemberater der Schönhofer Sales and Engineering GmbH, Siegburg.
Johannes Wenzel studierte 1984-1990 Physik und promovierte 1994 an der Rheinischen Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität, Bonn. Von 1995 bis 1999 arbeitete Herr Wenzel bei der Elekluft GmbH (später EADS Ewation) in Bonn mit dem Schwerpunkt der Anwendung innovativer IT-Technologien für Aufgabenstellungen der Aufklärung. Daneben arbeitete er an Vorhaben zu webbasierter technischer elektronischer Dokumentation. Herr Wenzel wechselte 2000 zur Schönhofer Sales and Engineering GmbH, Siegburg. Hier betreut er weiterhin Themen der technischen Aufklärung. Neben Technologie- und Organisationsuntersuchungen in diesem Umfeld liegt der Tätigkeitsschwerpunkt dabei auf Projekten zur Verarbeitung, Auswertung und Visualisierung von Massendaten.

Dr Stefan Wess

Dr Stefan Wess leitet als Geschäftsführer die empolis GmbH. Als Informatiker mit Nebenfach Wirtschaftswissenschaften war Stefan Wess von 1991 bis 1995 in verschiedenen internationalen IT-Projekten der Europäischen Union leitend tätig. Während dieser Zeit veröffentlichte er mehrere Bücher und zahlreiche Fachartikel. Nach seiner Promotion in Informatik an der Universität Kaiserslautern wechselte er als Technical Manager Central and Southern Europe zur amerikanischen Inference Corp. in München (heute eGain Corp.). Dort übernahm er die Verantwortung für die Umsetzung von Projekten im Bereich Knowledge Management und Customer Relationship Management bei namhaften Unternehmen in ganz Europa. 1997 wurde Dr Stefan Wess Geschäftsführer der tec:inno GmbH, wo er die strategische Neuausrichtung des IT-Unternehmens in den Bereich Knowledge Management umsetzte. In 2000 wurde die tec:inno GmbH vollständig in die empolis integriert und Dr Stefan Wess wurde zum CTO und Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung der empolis GmbH berufen.

Prof Dr Stefan Wrobel

Prof Dr Stefan Wrobel, M.S., is managing director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS) and Professor of computer science at University of Bonn. He studied computer science in Bonn and Atlanta, GA, USA (M.S. degree, Georgia Institute of Technology), receiving his doctorate from University of Dortmund. After positions in Berlin and Sankt Augustin, he became Professor of computer science at University of Magdeburg, moving to his current position into 2002. Professor Wrobel has published extensively on subjects in the area of Data Mining and Machine Learning and is on the Editorial Board of several journals in the field. Fraunhofer IAIS is centrally focussed on intelligent algorithms and systems for analyzing large volumes of data, ranging from sensor data to business databases and multimedia documents. The institute’s research is used extensively in customer projects in business areas such as market research, marketing & media analysis, cooperate planning & controlling, digital media asset management, process intelligence, preventive security, high tech experience spaces.

Prof Dr Wolfgang Ziegler

Prof Dr Wolfgang Ziegler, Diplomphysiker, seit 1997 in Dienstleistungsunternehmen und in der Industrie im Bereich SGML/XML-Informationssysteme tätig. Seit 2003 lehrt er an der Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft, Karlsruhe, im Studiengang Technische Redaktion. Sein Arbeitsgebiet sind das Umfeld XML-basierter Redaktionssysteme, XML/XSL-Technologien, Informations-Modellierung und –Generierung.
