Funded by: European Commission (EC)

Objective/Scope:
The vision of SEKT is to develop and exploit the knowledge technologies which underlie Next Generation Knowledge Management (NGKM). The project's aim is to develop technology which will mimic the human ability to assess the context of the information entered, enabling search engines to work out the subject matter of a web page or document, rather than leaving the user with an overwhelming list of irrelevant and disordered information to sift through.

The SEKT strategy is built around the synergy of the complementary know-how of the key European centers of excellence in Ontology and Metadata Technology, Knowledge Discovery and Human Language Technology, a leading commercial exponent of semantic technology, together with a major European ICT organisation.
