e:IAS Security has been specially developed for intelligence and security agencies’ key requirements and operations.  These operational scenarios include raw data aggregation, evaluation and analysis of situations, investigations, surveillance and co-operation between different units.  The additional value the e:IAS Security solution contributes is demonstrated below in the raw data aggregation scenario.

Demands on an intelligent aggregation of data

The aim of raw data aggregation is to prepare the information for searching and linking with other information so that a standard representation is guaranteed.

A vast amount of information constantly pours into security and news agencies from different sources. Typical sources of information are:

  • Information from the Internet, surveillance of web sites: Pages have to be identified containing relevant information, downloaded automatically from the many web sites on the Internet using web crawlers.
  • Monitoring e-mails: In this case relevant e-mails have to be filtered out of the vast quantity received. In particular, references to current investigations or risks have to be identified.
  • Telecommunications surveillance, phone tap logs: To start with taped calls are transcribed and transformed into text which is an easier medium to process. Significant texts are identified and classified from the transcripts, then operational data references are extracted that reflect the content matter in a compressed form.
  • Reports from news agencies: News agencies supply public domain information to analyze general situations. This information also has to be filtered and put into the appropriate context with a case or an issue.
