A standard system for individual requirements

The empolis:Product Information Management Suite (e:PIMS) provides a centralized, media-neutral product database to manage all relevant product information. Simultaneously, it facilitates efficient, database-supported publications (catalogs and advertising material) for print, the web and eCommerce.

Product information is stored in a central data pool; the e:PIMS product database. Centralized, consistent data is an absolute requirement in order to immediately publish information about new products, product and price changes. The e:PIMS product database consists of the following components:

• Product structures and product data are administered by the Product Management component. The Product Explorer, Product Search and Product Editor are the centralized modules. One of the highlights in the e:PIMS product database is the excel-like maintenance of highly structured product information.
• The e:PIMS product database supports a wide variety of Classifications. Among these are standard classifications such as BMEcat, eCl@ss, ETIM, UN/SPSC and Proficl@ss, as well as customer-specific classifications. Catalogs are automatically published according to the different classifications.
• The e:PIMS Digital Asset Management component manages all reusable information objects that describe products, text blocks, pictures or documents.
• Texts that need to be translated are managed by the Translation Management component. It provides a standard interface to translation management systems such as across^®, Trados^® und Transit^®.
• e:PIMS provides numerous interfaces for product data Import & Export. For individual utilization of product information, data can be selected and exported to Excel format, for example.
• Third party systems, such as ERP systems, are connected to e:PIMS via Open Interfaces and ensure for seamless data exchange.
• The Administration component manages data structures, user rights and processes.

The modular and scalable system is easily integrated into existing IT infrastructures and is adaptable to practically any requirements. Progressive implementation is easily realized. Integrated Workflow Management controls and improves workflows and makes them transparent.

Conclusion: Due to media-neutrality and the high extent of reusability, errors are eliminated, costs drastically reduced and quality considerably improved.
