Tuesday, 30. October 2007 15:20 ISTC Conference 2007 "The Technical Communication Culture"

 

Established for more than 50 years, the ISTC is the largest UK body representing professional communicators and information designers. The ISTC is an independent, non-profit making organisation and has the objective of setting and improving standards for communication of the scientific and technical information supporting products, services and business.

 

The annual Conference hosted by ISTC is an informal affair and is an ideal opportunity to meet other communication professionals and attend various presentations and seminars on a variety of communcation-related topics.

 

This year's conference took place on October 2-4 in Liverpool and had the theme "The Technical Communication Culture". empolis was one of the sponsors and contributed with a presentation entitled "Using Business Process Management to integrate technical communication teams across the globe". In particular, the profitable integration of content management and workflow management was highlighted and the "5 golden rules" for successful integration of business process management presented.

 

About 100 participants, some of them from outside the UK (like the US and Germany), enjoyed the three day programme packed with information about technical communication: XML, DITA, content management, translation, case studies etc.

 

An exhibition showcasing the latest tools for technical communication made this successful event complete.
